The Looming Tower is a great read. Out of your top five, I've only read Crime and Punishment, but it's been since college so I need to re-read. I did love Brothers Karamozov. Will have to check out your other top four. I made it through 22 books this year, short of my general goal of 26 a year, or one every two weeks. My best were:
- All the Shah's Men: An American Coup and the Roots of Middle East Terror, Stephen Kinzer
- The Automobile Club of Egypt, Alaa Al Aswany
- Lost in Shangri-La, Mitchell Zuckoff
- The Right Stuff, Tom Wolfe
- 41: A Portrait of My Father, George W. Bush

Re: Sermo Dei: The Resurrection of Our Lord 2016

This was such a good sermon. I tend to start books when I'm interested in a topic, or need to brush up on something, but then move along to something else. All my life I've had multiple books going, but the multiplicity of media and places has caused this tendency to get out of control.

I tend to read physical books mostly at home or church, so I have stacks of "reading" and "to read" in both places. I also read e-books on Logos and Kindle, and listen to books in the car using Audible on my iPhone.

Most of the books that are languishing are the physical ones, as lately I've had less time for reading in the places where they live.

In Kindle and Audible, I generally have four books per format going: 1) Theology; 2) Non-fiction other than theology; 3) Fiction; and 4) Reread (can be any type of book)

I try to follow a system that starts each day with the book closest to being finished, and I can only switch after I've finished a chapter. One goal this year is to pare down the number being read at once to 10. We'll see if I can be successful!

Re: 2015 Reading Recap

I have noticed on your reading list that you have several books going at one time. I have had to discipline myself to only read two books concurrently (one at church, one at home), otherwise I would probably never finish anything. Do you have any kind of system or method for determining when to start something new or for keeping yourself moving forward?

Re: 2015 Reading Recap

Thanks! I'm sad to say I am starting slow in 2016. I have started The Revenant and I have to say it is awesome. I have no desire to go see Leo, but you should add it to your list if you haven't read it. I've never thought of keeping a list if what I read, thanks for the great idea.

Rev. Yes, our political participation is essential because good government serves the neighbor and bad government destroys the neighbor. However, the national government is lost, and resources spent at that level are wasted. (E.g., the March for Life.)

Resources spent at the state and local level are not wasted (depends on the state and locality, of course). Red states have every constitutional, legal, and moral authority to nullify illegitimate acts of Congress and illegitimate SCOTUS rulings. Also, resources spent to cleave private funds from Planned Parenthood and other evil institutions are not wasted. (E.g., "Does PepsiCo support trafficking in human organs? If not, why do you give money to PP?")

Re: New Undercover Video Exposes Planned Parenthood

Thanks for replying John. You're not too old -- the 3 top democrats running for US President are in their 70's or very close to 70.

I agree that many Christians vote for politicians who profess beliefs that are contrary to Christianity.
